Oxford Aviation Academy runs a series of self-sponsored Ryanair Type Courses for individuals interested in advancing their careers using this route.
Ryanair is rapidly expanding
Europe’s largest low fares airline with 34 bases and 850+ routes across 26 countries. Ryanair operates a fleet of 199 Boeing 737-800 aircraft, with firm orders for a further 99 new aircraft which will be delivered over the next 3 years. Ryanair expects to carry approximately 67 million passengers in 2009.
Courses are planned to start during 2010. Applications for assessments and training are accepted.
Training record
Over the past 6 years OAA has successfully trained more than 550 pilots for Ryanair. As a Ryanair approved training organisation, OAA offers approved Type Rating and MCC courses.
Who can apply?
Pilots with little or no airline experience can join Ryanair as cadets. Successful candidates may be offered the opportunity to fly for Ryanair on a full time basis following completion of a B737-800 Type Rating course. The course is run in conjunction with Scandinavian Aviation Academy, which is responsible for programme administration. The Ryanair Type Rating courses are performed at OAA's state-of-the art TRTO facilities at Stockholm-Arlanda.
Full registration details and comprehensive information can be found on The Scandinavian Aviation Academy website www.bfsaa.se.
Selection process
The selection process takes place at the Stansted Training Centre (UK). The day begins with an introduction to Ryanair, and a pre simulator briefing. The assessment is performed on a B737-800 simulator; and includes both a technical interview and a personnel interview.
Accommodation
Affordable long-term housing is available designed to fit the needs of the self sponsored student. View the accommodation information (PDF)
