Oxford Aviation Academy (OAA) is one of the leading independent providers of integrated aviation training and resourcing services. Owned by STAR Capital Partners and the GE Corporation, the vision for our training organisation was realised through the integration of globally recognised ab initio pilot training and aircraft type training organisations to create Oxford Aviation Academy.
The formation of the OAA Group began in February 2007 with the US$275m merger of SAS Flight Academy based in Scandinavia and GE Commercial Aviation Training based in the UK and Hong Kong. The group then entered the ab-initio training market and adopted the name Oxford Aviation Academy in June 2007 following the acquisition of Oxford Aviation Training. In December 2007, OAA further enhanced its training capability and type rating simulator portfolio through the acquisition of the BAE Systems Regional Aircraft Training Centre in Manchester.
The acquisition of Parc Aviation in June 2008 marked a new departure for the group, adding aviation resourcing and technical support services to the extensive training portfolio.
In September 2008, the OAA group became truly global and further enhanced its ab initio training capabilities through the acquisition of Melbourne-based General Flying Services (GFS).
Led by Chairman Frank Turner, the OAA group has more than 600 aviation professionals working across 16 global locations. While the group was founded in 2007, the experience and expertise that is characteristic of our organisation and our personnel is drawn from decades of specialising in aviation training and resourcing services.
