Awards

We are justifiably proud of our innovative approach and award-winning achievements and these qualities still form the foundation of our business and training activities today.

  • In May 1962, OAA was approved by the British Air Ministry to be the first school in the UK to offer a full-time Integrated course of airline pilot training.

  • In 1972, we were awarded the Queens Award to Industry for innovation in the field of pilot training. This prestigious award is on display at the Oxford training centre.

  • In 1992, OAA partnered with Swinburne University of Technology to provide a Professional Pilot Training with Aviation Degree Programs.

  • In 1998, OAA and Qantas created the Qantas Cadet Pilot Training Programs - at the same time pioneering the Multi Crew Co-operation (MCC) course in Australia.

  • In 1999, OAA was the first school in the UK to be awarded an approval to deliver Integrated training for the new European (JAR-FCL) flight-crew licensing system.

  • In 2002, our OAA Media team won the Flight International Aerospace Award for innovative computer based training in Radio Communications.

  • In 2005, Jessica Telford an APP FIRST OFFICER Graduate, won the GAPAN Sir Alan Cobham Memorial Award for being the most meritorious airline pilot student of the year.

  • In 2006, we were presented with an award from our parent Company at the time (BBA Group plc) as being the Company within the Group that had shown "The Most Improved Performance".

  • In 2009, OAA was awarded the contract to train airline pilots for Jetstar Australia leading directly from ab initio training into employment as First Officers flying the A320 aircraft.

  • In 2009, OAA was approved by the UK CAA to deliver training for the brand new Multi Crew Pilot's Licence (MPL).
